Body Work I started with the sandblasting of the body simply because I felt more comfortable with the body work then I did with the motor work. I bought a Sears craftsman 75 pound sandblaster and started to work. Next time I will rent the big sandblaster from Nations Rent and save myself a lot of money. The little sand blaster used too much sand and it took along time to complete anything. I figured it took a good day for any of the body pieces, i.e.- hood, dash, grill etc. When I rented the big sand blaster, I finished all of the tub in less then an hour-- it was so worth it. After sand blasting I coated most of the parts with por15 paint. This stuff is suppose to never chip or peel. It seals the metal and keeps it from ever rusting again. After that I primed and painted. I finally decided on O.D. 24087. I bought some cans from a California store and when I went to get some more to complete the project, they sent me a different shade. I was really upset. I found RAPCO Jeep Parts in my first issue of supply line ( a magazine put out by the m.v.p.a.) I talked to Mark and he set me straight on my paint. I bought four gallons from him for less then the others that I had bought, sanded the gloss off of the other paint and set out to start again. The paint was so much easier to use and looked so much better. I am extremely happy with the way things turned out. I have learned a lot of lessons the hard way in this project. I know there will be more, there usually are the first time you do something. I hope these pictures and comments willl help you in your own project.
