Baja 1995

Here are some of the images of 1995:

March

In 1995, there was lots of rain in the spring. The shed went up in March when Hutch and I were there. It rained a bit when we were there and made for some very interesting scenery.

April

In April, Geoff came down. We fished and caught loads of Sierra and a few nice Yellowtail out at the Seamount. Tides were high. Loco Mike was down. Chuck was there and he got lots of Sierra too.

May

In May, Dmitria and Ramona came down. They both caught Yellowtail out on the south end of La Poma. We must have caught 30 that day. It was a bit rough on the way in. They vowed never to ride with me again. We did make it in though, didn't we. Either you take command of the waves or they take command of you...I prefer the former. Valerie and Kerry were there in May too.

October

In October, Chuck and Terry drove down in Chuck's new Jeep Cherokee. The shocks blew on the way down. The cross-member tie-rod on his steering broke on the way back. Chucky-boy had no steering. The Gonzaga road is a bad place to have no steering. On 95% of it, you loose your steering and you go on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride for 4 or 5 seconds before you die. Fortunately, Chuck picked the other 5%. He ended up unceremoniously stuck on the flats between Campo Miramar and the 5 Islas Cafe. What could be the best thing that could happen? A tow trailer could come up the road and sweep him back to civilization. Yeah fat chance of that. Lo & behold, Roberto and Herman were driving a Silverado off-road checking-out the road for the Baja 500 and towing an empty trailer, just for practice. I'd say Chuck's luck was a little better than average. He should have went to Vegas and bet his life savings on longest shot they had, because his odds of hitting the jackpot were a heck of a lot better than living through a steering failure and getting picked up by a tow trailer that just happened to be driving along!!

Christmas/New Year's

I went to the Midwest over Thanksgiving. Hobbs came down over Christmas and a good time was had at Tonia's party. The bass fishing was good, the Yellowtail was not. We only got to fish half the time. We did go out to Isla Lobos to see the Sea Lion colony. We also checked out a big, smelly dead (Finback) whale that washed up on the beach south of Los Delfines.
