It's a lot of work. First off, you need to find a company to post your site under, here are a few good ones.

Your ISP should almost certainly provide space for your own site. contact them to find out where it is and how to publish to it. If you have America Online, go to keyword "Web Diner".

Next, you must learn HTML. This by itself is the hardest part of making web sites. There are many places you can learn HTML from, one of the easiest is to go to a site and select view, and then source from either Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator. This displays the HTML for the current document you are viewing. Another way is to search the internet for sites that have HTML help. Here are a few

This tutorial will teach you the absolute basics for HTML, this is reccomended for people who have no knowledge of HTML, for it will teach you all you need to know to get your first website on the internet.

One shortcut I'm providing is a list of HTML editors. these editors arent the "easy as pie" do it for you editors. The only way to get a truly flexible, good website is to make it yourself. These editors help you with that, not try and do it for you.

And last to worry about is FTP. FTP (file transfer protocol) is a way to get your website from your computer to the internet. First, contact your ISP to see if they have a way to upload your files, if not, then are excellent FTP programs.
