I would like to take this time and talk a little bit about Maine and all her beauty. I have added a lot of new things to this page as you will see.I want to exsplain my links to you. The Moose is the state animal.. Moose are a common sight a long the Maine high ways. I wanted to add a piece about them on my Maine page. I have added a few links on facts about moose and I will do a small out line on the moose in Maine.I have added a piece in here on the dangers of moose being so close to the higways. Maine is full of moose, giving the area you may be in. My husband and I use to do what we call the "Rangely Loop" which means we would circle the Rangely Lake and come back to the starting point. We saw a lot of moose on that loop. Leslie and I are from a small town called Carthage I use to live on a farm in the middle of now where and we use to have moose come right into our yard..
You will also see I have added a some about Black bears. The black bear is a common sight in the Maine woods if your in the right area. I have run into a few in my time. Of course I use to do a lot of berry picking in our Maine woods.I have added a few links about black bears also.
Fishing is a common thing to do in Maine. I have added a few links on fishing as you can see. I love to fish as does my husband. I did a lot of my fishing up the Hutchinson Brook.(Yes folks up brook) It is neat to have a brook named after your family I use to think I was all that.
Hiking is another common thing to do in Maine. I am from The Western Foothills and there are some wonderful hiking trails up here. Tumble Down Mountian is a wonderful place to hike as is Mount Blue to name a few. You will now find a link to these as I have found a few. My husband has climbed Tumble Down Mountain all the way up to the top. He tells me there is a beautiful lake up there. Acadia is a wonderful place to go in Maine.
I as some of you know am in college. I go to a site center in Mexico Maine that is part of the University of Maine at Augusta. You will see a link to that on this page. I am studying Social Services. I do most of my classes via ITV. Which is kinda neat.
We have added a link about the weather in Maine for any one who may be interested. You can actually see what the temp. is here and what the weather is like here. We have also added a piece about Skiing. The Black Mountian you read about in the link is 10 minutes from us here in Rumford. I will say Maine has a few ski areas Sunday River and Sugarloaf to name a few..
I added a piece about The Maine Wildlife Park we just recently went there. We had a wonderful time. I actually flipped over the fish there. HUGE!! Man we can only dream about fish like that. Hey GCG I thought about you.. *lol* They also have some wonderful Mountian lions.
I also added a link about the Maine State bird and the maine state tree and plant. That would be the white pine and her cone and tassel.. I have also added some about the loons here in Maine .. The lakes are wonderful and the loon sound so beautiful. I have also added a few pieces anbout the Maine state mineral that would be the green Tourmaline. I have added about rock hounding for those of you interested.. Some wonderful mines in Rumford and surrounding areas.
Leeslie and i are avid rock hounds and we thought it would be wonderful to add some about the minerals found in Maine. I love to just go hiking and look at the floor of the forest and see what surprises Nature has hidden for us.. As you can see we are still working on this page please let us know what you think so far. I know Leslie has added a few links and I will in time exsplain them .. Please enjoy my page so far.
