In case you missed it in the theatres, on March 21 Columbia TriStar Home Video will release on videocassette and DVD, Jakob the Liar, an unforgettable uplifting drama starring Academy Award-Winner Robin Williams. In Nazi-occupied Poland during World War I , poor Jewish café owner Jakob (Robin Williams) accidentally overhears a forbidden radio news bulletin signaling Soviet military successes against German forces. To combat the overwhelming depression and suicide that pervades the ghetto, Jakob tells fict tious news bulletins about Allied advances against the Nazis. These lies keep hope and humor alive among the ghetto inhabitants-spirits are lifted, hearts are refreshed and hope is reborn. The Germans learn of the mythical radio, however , and begin a s arch for the resistance hero who dares operate it. The film also stars Liev Schrieber (Sphere), Armin Mueller-Stahl (The Thirteenth Floor) and Alan Arkin (Edward Scissorhands). Hi and thanx for signing my guestbook! Your entry made me curious so here I am! I liked reading about the adoption of Alex. Since I'm not sure how you found my site, and how much you read, I'm not sure you know I have a daughter. It took us a miscarriage, some years of trying, and some medicine to get there. We didn't have to serious y consider adoption, but if I can't have any more biological children it's definitely one thing we'll consider!
