Preceding the White Sands Balloon Invitational are events of promotion.

August 9 and 12, 2006 we held two "Crew Training" days where we explain

the do's and don'ts of crewing. Safety, listening, following directions, what to wear and what to expect were covered. We brought out two balloons on Wednesday night and one balloon on Saturday morning. Wednesday was blowing so we cold inflated one balloon so the setup could be practiced. Saturday we stood up and so everyone could get the feel of the balloon we tethered.
