Trick # 1
NAME: ScannerMan
TITLE:Using your scanner as a wireless stereo headphone system.

I just recently seen a factory serviced 900 MHZ wireless stereo headphone system for $69.99. That is a factory serviced one so a new one would cost twice as much. I was watching a rented movie about 1:00 a.m. and I didn't want to wake anyone up in the house so I wished I would have boughten the Wireless headphone system. Then I had an idea. I found an old cordless phone that we don't use anymore and I plugged it in to the AC outlet without plugging it into to Phone Jack. If you don't have an old phone you can use your existing cordless phone and just leave it off the hook until the noise stops so that you don't get bothered by a phone call while watching the movie or you can just leave it plugged into the AC outlet and then unplug it from the Phone Jack. I then turned the cordless on and put it next to the TV speaker. Then I found the Frequency to the Cordless by searching the 44 MHZ to 49 MHZ phone band. Then I plugged in a par of headphones in the headphone jack of my Uniden SC 150B scanner and I could hear the movie even though the TV was turned down to the Minimum. I could hear on the left and right sides of my headphones because the Sport Cat (SC 150B) supports stereo headphones. If you don't hear it in both ears on your headphones then you could just unplug them and turn your scanner to the right volume so you can just hear it and still be able to hear the movie clearly. Or you can get 2 scanners and put one on each sides of your body and you can hear the movie as if you had surround sound. Once you have this mastered you can sit back and enjoy the movie without disturbing anyone.

Break down of steps:
1: Get a Cordless phone.
2: Plug it into the AC outlet but don't plug into phone jack or leave it in the phone jack but
leave it off the hook until the noise stops.
3: Turn cordless on and put it next to the TV speaker.
4: Find cordless frequency 44 MHz to 49 MHz
5: Plug headphones in headphone jack of Scanner
6: Sit back and enjoy the show.

Trick # 2

TITLE:decode DTMF tones w/o decoder

To decode DTMF (touch-tones) without a DTMF decoder, you'll need a pager. Simply record the tones you are interested in. Then call your pager number, play your taped tones into the mouthpiece, then wait for your pager service to call back with the number!
