Saturday May 20th @ 5:30pm : Championship game - Ecuador VS Peru (Score 0-5) Peru took advantage of Ecuador, which not only had one of its player red carded early in the first half, Ecuador had also made the tactical mistake, of not including in their starting line up, Haitian foward Guemel Dorcely, who only was put into action, when there was little precious time left in the second half. Peru with the help of its # 20 Teofilo (Coquito) Cubillas Jr already had the Consular Cup Championship 2000 won.
Congratulation to Peru, one the five Bolivarian countries that the Liberador Simon Bolivar of Venezuela, with the support of the second elected President of Haiti, General Alexandre Petion, helped gain their independance more than a century ago, including: Columbia, Ecuador, Venezuela and Bolivia. The Haitian team, Champion of the first South Florida Consular Cup of 1998 (on the occasion of Israel 50th anniversary as a nation) chose not to play in the year 2000 Consular Cup. Although they had forfeited against team Israel while Haiti was the defending Champion in 1999. Despites the absence of the Haitian team, Haitian players were represented within team Ecuador a statement of cooperation between players of two nations, who had some historical relation in the past. It is a small world after all.
