Purpose of the GW Registry Exam
The GW Registry Exam is a comprehensive medical examination program offered at VA
Medical Centers and Outpatient Clinics at no cost to veterans. This exam is for those who served on active
duty in the Southwest Asia theater of operations during the Gulf War. Participants
are asked about their medical history, their experiences in the GW (including possible
exposure to environmental hazards) and health problems they've experienced since
returning from the Gulf region. A complete physical examination is performed
with blood and urine tests. If medically indicated, veterans receive extended
care through follow-up clinics.
