Background
The scientific method is the procedure that scientists use to formulate an accurate representation of the world around. For this reason, I decided to use the scientific method as the science component of the Renaissance Electronic Portfolio
Science at Renaissance school is established upon the basis of building blocks. As a student progresses into the 8th grade, new aspects of scientific research methodology are added to the pre-existing framework. With this progression, 8th grade students are required to add the new dimension of sources of error.
Students have been applying research methods to daily classroom laboratories and projects. As a science component for the portfolio, students have been asked to choose one formal lab report that best represents this transition.
Purpose
To review student’s growth over the course of three years.
To encourage the usage of scientific terms and principles.
To select a work for the electronic portfolio.
