Academics

Ph.D. in Botany (Lichenology). From - Dr. R.M.L. Avadh University, Faizabad, India. The research was carried out at Lichneology laboratory, National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow, India under the supervision of Dr. D.K. Upreti, Scientist-EII. Title of the thesis is “Revisionary studies of Lecanora s. lat. from India”.

Distinction

Participated in 22nd Indian Antarctic Expedition and studied lichens of Schirmacher Oasis region, during 2002-03.

Participated in Western Ghats, Biodiversity inventory programme, coordinated by Prof. Madhav Gadgil, Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore during 1994-96.

Twice Summer Research fellow of Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore during 1997-98 and studied Bangalore City lichens in relation to air pollution.

Worked as project assistant during 1998-2000 under Prof. Madhav Gadgil, Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore in the Indian Academy of Science, Banglore sponsored ‘Lifescape Project’. Also visited various localities of Western Ghats and studied lichen and bryophytes.

Participated in Rapid Biodiversity Assessment of Meghamalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Tamil Nadu organised by Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Bangalore and Kerala Forest Office and studied lichen diversity of the area in 1999.

Participated in Environment Impact Assessment of Sharavathi river basin, Sagara, Karnataka, organised by Centre for Ecological Sciences, Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore and studied the lichen flora of the area in 2001.
