Well I guess it had to happen sooner or later! After nearly 3 years of trouble free operation and no maintenance, the repeater had a flame out.
After overcoming the problems of site access, a visit to the site revealed a burned out switch mode supply.
The power supply was replaced and all was well for about an hour when the replacement power supply died.
After procuring a temporary replacement, all was well again. Not sure why both power supplies died, maybe it was just bad luck! The power supply in question was known for its quirks (it was a first version supply, that was later withdrawn from the market).
Anyway Richard VK3YLZ is having a look at the dead units to see if they can be resurrected.....
