Technology Portfolio Entries

12.1 Develop performance tasks that require students to:

(a) locate and analyze information as well as draw conclusions and
(b) use a variety of available and appropriate media to communicate results clearly

Electronic gradebook where results and assignments are posted on the internet. 

***I am currently using this program during the last 6 weeks of school. Attached is an e-mail I recently received from one of my parents concerning this program.

12.3 Use computers and other technologies as available to effectively and appropriately communicate information in a variety of formats on student learning to colleagues, parents, and others.

Develop web pages to share information. 

***This was a very simple web page that I designed for our school. A digital photo was on the original but for some reason the webmaster deleted it.

Produce materials such as desktop publishing products, such as newsletters.

12.4 Create physical settings that support active student involvement, inquiry, and collaboration.

Establish classroom/areas with the physical atmosphere reflecting technology utilization. 

This website reflects a technology wise room design. Our set-up at MCES is different in that the computer stations are located in a "U" shape around the walls of the room. The room is shared with the entire school with a sign-up sheet posted.

12.5 Employ technology (where available and appropriate) to organizational and management strategies that support active student involvement, inquiry, and collaboration.

Develop technology units or lesson plans integrating technology and databases of instructional materials (Internet)

12.6 Utilize available resources including satellite, cable, wireless, and ITFS (Instructional Television Fixed Service) to develop and deliver curriculum.

Participate in satellite transmitted staff development activity as available. Also on occasion our county will host classes conducted on NC Information Highway.

Expanded Knowledge and Skills

12.7 Select and create learning experiences that are appropriate for curriculum goals, relevant to learners, based upon principles of effective teaching and learning, incorporate the use of media and technology for teaching where appropriate, and support learner expression in a variety of media using a variety of media communication tools.


Prepare and use integrated instructional units for the teaching of computer skills within specific subject areas as appropriate
Facilitate subject area student projects that use available media and technology through the creation and/or presentation/publication stage. 

**This is a sample of a slide show one of my students put together on evolution. They were learning to use the program, therefore the criteria for the presentation were simple. They had to have a minimum of five slides, show some creativity, and give some knowledge of content.
