Human Body

Your group is to research an "assigned" (Kennedy's Lotto) body system.

1. Integumentary System

-------Skin, hair, and glands

2. Digestive System

------Stomach, intestines, etc…

3. Excretory System

------Kidneys, bladder, etc….

4. Respiratory System

------Lungs, trachea, etc…

5. Circulatory System

------Heart and major blood vessels

6. Nervous System

------CNS(central nervous system) and PNS(peripheral nervous system)

7. Senses

------The five senses and the organs involved.

8. Reproductive System

------Male and female reproductive systems

9. Embryonic Development

------The stages of the three trimesters

10. Immune System

----- White blood cells, immune responses etc…

11. Skeletal System

------Bones

12. Muscular System

------All the muscle of the body

13. Lymphatic System

------Lymph, lymph vessels, function etc…

Using your text, in-class library, LMC, CD ROMS, and Internet sites, complete the following tasks:

One (1) person is to do the overview for the entire group:

1. The overall general distinguishing characteristics of the system.

2. The general function of the organs and/or cells involved in each system

3. Relationships / similarities to other body systems

4. Present 3 or more pictures of organs or cells representative of your group. You may use poster drawings, slides, overhead transparencies, or computer images.

All other members of your group research the following topics:

1. Specific physical characteristics of the system

2. Function

3. Discuss the importance of the system to the body as a whole (what does it do for the body).

4. How does the system work, explain with examples what it does on a regular basis.

5. Discuss any diseases common to the system

6. Unique features, or interesting facts

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:

ORAL REPORT:

· Your grade will be determined by your presentation, not by the overall quality of the group.

· The total length of the group's presentation is to be no longer than 8 minutes.

· Each group must have at least three visual aides. (large, visible, labeled)

WRITTEN REPORT:

· Your paper should follow the above outline format using each area as a heading.

· The final write-up of all the research is due the next day after your group's presentation.

· Each paper is to be typed and two to three pages in length.

· A bibliography (typed) citing five or more references is required for each paper. They should not all be from the same type of media source.

· Double-space between lines (like this)

· Use an easy-to read font, size 10-12, NOT all capitals.

· Good examples: Times Geneva Helvetica Palatino Bookman New York Arial

· Be sure to include a heading at the top of your paper with your name and period number.
