1. One individual within the group will discuss:

a. what organism causes this disease...scientific name (example...Germus yuccus) and classification

b. life cycle, physical and/or chemical characteristics of the organism

c. how the disease is transmitted / caught

2. The other individual within the group will discuss:

a. symptoms

b. prevention / diagnosis / treatment / success rate / mortality rate

c. history of the disease - when discovered / described, past treatments, famous victims

INSTRUCTIONS:

ORAL REPORT:

1. Your grade will be determined by your presentation, not by the overall quality of the group.

2. The total length of the group's presentation is to be no longer than 8 minutes.

3. Visual aids are welcome, but optional.

4. Use your textbook, school library, in-class library, CD-ROM, internet, interviews, etc...

WRITTEN REPORT:

1. Your paper should follow paragraph format with 3-4 subheadings.

2. The final write-up of all the research is due the day after your group's presentation.

3. Each group will place all their papers together into a thin folder to be turned in.

4. Each paper is to be typed and one to two pages in length. Check your spelling and grammar...I'm going to be very picky.

5. A bibliography (typed, at the end) citing three or more references is required for each paper. They should not be from the same type of media source.

6. Double-space between lines (like this)

7. Use an easy-to read font, size 10-12, NOT all capitals. (Size 10) (Size 12)

Good examples: Times Geneva Helvetica Palatino Bookman New York

Bad examples: any hard to read fonts, all capital fonts, fancy fonts, etc…

8. Be sure to include a heading at the top of your paper with your name and period number.
