Beulah Baptist Church & Cemetery, Confederate Soldiers Buried Therein, Snoddy, Greene County, Alabama
Beulah Baptist Church, was organized 2/23/1833, the Church has had 4 buildings, the 4th was erected 1872 being a wood structure. MEH has been told that his Great Uncle Jim Henderson, James Edmond Henderson, a carpenter among other trades, "turned the Church around", that is reversed the front & rear of the Church to face the road as it is now in front of the Church. The old road ran around the present rear (the front then) if recollection is correct.__E.W. Henderson was an ordained deacon & member 1877 by letter from Bethel Baptist Church (Ralph, Alabama) & then church clerk 1893-1899. Carolyn Henderson Temple (MEH's older sister) & her nephew, Grant Arthur Collier, are in the Cemetery picture.
Milton Eugene Henderson, S.C.V. & Mrs. Barbara Roebuck McCamish, U.D.C. (daughter of Mrs. Evelyn Henderson Roebuck, U.D.C.) presented Confederate Memorial Service for Edmund Waller Henderson & special recognition for Evelyn's UDC work regarding her Grandfather E.W.H., 7/4/1998 at Beulah Cemetery after the annual Henderson Reunion in Eutaw. In the above 2 pictures, the older gentleman is Abner Phillips (of Knoxville, Alabama, Tuscaloosa/Greene Counties) in a white cap & blue shirt, his mother was Sallie Henderson Phillips, his grandfather was Samuel "Sam" Taylor Henderson who was the next to youngest brother of Edmund Waller Henderson. Abner Phillips died Feb. 28, 2000; also a very good man! SEE ABNER PHILLIPS OBITUARY INFORMATION!
