Society's Background

The Physics Society of Universiti Sains Malaysia was officially formed on the 23rd of February 1989. It's mother society, the Science Society of Universiti Sains Malaysia was forced to break due to different interest among members from various science majors. Thus the formation of the Physics Society, Chemistry Society and the Biology Society.

The emergences of these societies proved to be a smart move as students of various majors could plan and implement activities of their respective interests more smoothly compared to as when they were a conglomerate. This is due to the difference in their nature of studies.

Our Purpose

Since it's formation, the Physics Society is a family component of the School of Physics under the patronage of the school's Deputy Dean. It serves as an avenue for undergraduates with the interest of physics to bring forth new ideas and share their views on interesting issues. It also serves as a bridge between the lecturers and staffs, and students. This harmonious setting has lead to a better understanding between lectures and students.

One of our priority is to educate the public and to keep them updated on the latest development in physic. By organizing various exhibitions, seminars and other academic related activities we hope to share our knowledge with the rest. It is also our aim to groom future leaders by giving our members opportunity to organise projects and activities.

Our vision

For the near future we would like to go on a global network, to be linked to physics socities of other learning institutions in the world. Expanding our pool of knowledge as well as to interact with other students.
