Lake Central History

Last year, 1998, our science olympiad team got 3rd overall in our regional which qualifies us for state. Our regional was at St. Joeseph's College in Rennsalear, Indiana. There were 11 teams in our regional and 4 went to state. In my events, I got a 1st in Surfing the Net and in Cell Biology I got a 2nd. At state I placed 13th in both events. There was 25 schools at state. We placed an embarrasing 22nd. State was at Indiana University in Bloomington, Indiana. Last year we only received one medal. It was a 5th in Bio-Process. I am too ashamed to put the rest of the results up. The only other award we got at state was a special award for the girl that did Mission Possible. I think that our problems were that a lot of people still didn't study and there were some problems that happened the night before competition that didn't allow 2 of our members to compete. I ended up being in Redesigner Genes which was a lot harder than I thought it was going to be. I had a different partner in Cell Biology which hurt us.
1997 was even worse. We got a 5th place at regionals. When they first announced who was going to state, they said Lake Central. We were very excited and got on the bus while our coach went up and got information for state. When she came on the bus, she told us they made a mistake and we weren't going to state. To say the least, we were a little unhappy. We still had fun though.
As for what the future holds for us, is unknown. We hope to go down state again. We had state at IUPUI my 8th grade year, and it was fun. Hopefully, WE WILL PREVAIL VICTORIOUSLY!! (Sorry Valpo, your science is good, but your english is terrible)
