Ontogeny and the equation:

Oi2 = 288,000 Pi

Square of ontogenic time = 288000 Phylogenic time

Haeckel proposed that "ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny". If phylogeny can be divided into 12 periods then ontogeny should be able to be divided into 12 periods too.

Oldest men or women are usually not older than 120 years. Let's start with 120 years and divide by 6 again and again, we get Table 1.

Table 1.

120 6 =

20 years

- 120 years

20 6 =

- 20 years

3.3 6 =

1.1 30 6 =

5.5 days

- 1.1 months

5.5 6 =

5.5 24 6 =

22.2 hours

- 5.5 days

This means we can divide human development into 6 periods by dividing 120 with 6. If we need 12 periods we should divide 120 by 6. Table 2 is the result.

We can see that the 12 periods of human development or the history of the embryo (ontogeny) fit nicely with the 12 periods of human evolution or the history of race (phylogeny).

Period 1: Woman and man = Heaven and Earth

Human development begins when man and woman come to know each other. It takes 24 to 48 hours after man and woman are separated for the sperm to travel in the uterus and the fallopian tube to reach the ovum. It is a coincidence that Egyptian mythology represented the earth with man and the heaven with woman. At first they are united. When god (Ra) created the earth, the woman (Nut) was lift upward and formed the sky. The man (Geb) was left behind to be the earth. When the woman yearned for the man, she cries giving rise to rain.

Period 2: Zygote = First life

Sperm penetrates the ovum and the nucleii fuse together to form man in a stage called zygote. After fertilization zygote divides into two cells then four and eight. The cluster of cells that resulted is called morula. This takes about 3 - 4 days. Life on earth began 3 billions to 1 billion years ago. The fossil records showed unicellular organisms or clusters of cells.

Period 3: Blastocyst = Coelenterates

Man develops coelom and is called blastocyst which has two layers of tissue like jelly fish and other coelenterates. At this stage implantation to the uterine endometrium occurs, usually on the sixth to seventh day of conception. One characteristic of coelenterates is that they like to attach to environmental structure. Hydra and corals are good examples.

Period 4: Four-chamber heart = Mammal and bird

Man begins to have four-chamber heart. Septum primum and interventricular septum is fully developed at the age of 28 days. Mammal and bird have four-chamber heart. At the age of 35 day two nodules on the head are formed, which will develop into ear pinna. Pinna is a characteristic of mammal.

Period 5: Human embryo = Ape embryo

Human embryo at the age of 70 day is indistinguishable from ape embryo. It has both hands and feet.

Period 6: Fetus = Homo habilis

Between the age of 2.7 months to 6.6 months or 198 days or 28 weeks, human fetus continues metamorphosis until it looks like man and can be kept alive outside the womb. The first ape to be called man, Homo habilis, had a brain, weighing 600 grams, equal to a 4.5 month old fetus.

Period 7: Birth of Man = Homo erectus

Baby at the age of 16.2 month from fertilization is 8 month old since birth. It began to grasp things like the early man.

Period 8: Praying and religious rites.

One year old man can not be taught to pray. But as the age approaches 2 years and 4 months (3.3 years since conception), they can be taught to avoid dangerous things and toilet training. Some begin to pray. In the eighth period of evolution man began to perform religious rites.

Period 9: Drawing and cave paintings.

A three years old man can draw a circle and color picture like Cromagnon man. Man in this period of human development and human evolution can build and use bow and arrows.

Period 10: Writing and first writing.

At the age of 7.2 years (8.2 years since fertilization) man began to learn to read and write. Sumerian is the first people to write cuneiform tablets about 3000 years BC. Arithmetic and geometry, which were studied in the ancient Greek time, are taught in the primary and secondary schools. Now teenager often use iron knife to stab rival like the Hittite in ancient time.

Period 11: College and sciences

Man enter college at the age of 19. They begin to study subjects that were discovered after the Middle age. Since the Renaissance, some 600 - 700 years ago, man discovered the equation of planetary orbit, calculus, modern biology, modern medicine, chemistry and physics. Some men are taught the art of killing with pistol and M16. The eleventh period weapons are used by man of the eleventh period.

Period 12: Professor and nuclear physics.

The twelfth period of human evolution is the period of nuclear physics and nuclear weapons. Man can see the edge of the universe and the smallest dimension, the particles and subparticles. At the age of 49 some man become authorities in their fields. The nuclear weapons are usually in the hands of those older than 49 years.

The twelfth period began when the first atomic bomb was dropped in 1945. The year 1999 will be the 54 years from the beginning and 66 years to the end. Substitute 66 for Pi in the equation. The human race will be like man at the age of 66. He has lost some teeth or species. The head is bald like the tropical rain forest. His energy is burning out like oil reserve. His skin is thin like the ozone layer.

Good luck for mankind.

The Recapitulation Equation:

Square of ontogenic time = 288,000 phylogenic time

  1. Phylogenic Times (P) are 6 times less than the previous period.
  2. P1 = P0 6 = 20

  3. Ontogenic Times (O) are 6 times greater than the previous period.
  4. O1 = O0 6 = 120

    Square both side of the equation.

    O12 = O02 6

  5. Multiply equation 1 with equation 2, we get
  6. P1 O12 = P0 O02 = 20 120 120 = 288,000

  7. By generalization
  8. Pi Oi2 = 288,000 for Homo sapiens

    Oi2 = 288,000 Pi

    Square of ontogenic time = 288000 Phylogenic time

  9. Time in evolution can be calculated if we know the exact time in embryology.

Pi = 288,000 Oi2

How to prove or disprove this idea.

This equation should apply to all mammals alike.

Longer gestation period means longer life span.

To be precise, time from fertilization to walking can be used to calculate life span.
