Moon's are made in several way's.Material left over from the planet's,accumulating ,gathering together forming larger body's such as Titon,Europa or Gynamede.The moon's Phobos and Diemos where captured by the gravitational field of Mars.Comet's or asteroids that collieded with a planet ejecting material into orbit around the planet,eventually gathering together forming larger body's such as our own Moon

THE MOON



There is speculation that Earth,collided with another planet about the size of Mar`s.Blasting material from Earth and destroying the Mar`s sized planet,cerating a ring around Earth,that eventually gathered together to form the Moon.Like other moon`s in the solor system,the moon is heavily cratered by comet`s and meteorites making impact crater`s large as 100 Km.,60 miles across.THE SEA OF TRANQUILLTY JULY 20,1969.NEIL ARMSTRONG and EDWIN ALDRIN,were the frist human`s to land on the moon.As NEIL ARMSTRONG set foot on the luner surfuce.He said."THAT`S ONE SMALL STEP FOR A MAN,ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND."12 Astronaut`s have walked on the moon,during the apollo mission`s that ended with apollo 17 December,1972.The apollo mission`s brought sample`s of soil and rock that were 4.5 billon year`s old(THE BIRTH OF THE MOON ).The distance from Earth,238,900 miles.Diameter of the moon is 2160 miles.It take`s the moon 27.32 day`s to orbit Earth.And 27.32 day`s to spin on it`s axis.

THE MOON'S of MARS



PHOBOS and DEIMOS,Small cratered moon`s ,are thought to be asteroid`s that were captured by Mar`s. Phobos is 28 Km. 17 miles,at it`s widest point,And Deimos,with a diameter of 16 Km.10 miles.Because of there unusual shape,Phobos and Deimos,could be classifed as the largest potato`s in the solar system.
MOON'S of JUPITER < Jupiter the largest planet in our solar system,has 16 moon's (and other's that might be to small to be seen ).The 4 largest moon's were discovered by GALILEO GALILEI in 1610.IO,EUROPA,GANYMEDE and CALLISTO.11/23/98 JPL NASA reported that the spacecraft GALILEO has unveiled strong evidence that CALLISTO has a subsurface ocean.There is strong evidence that EUROPA has traces of salt mineral's on it's icy surface,and( a liquid ocean below .)There could be some form of life on EUROPA.( CALLISTO ?)IO has active valcanoes that cover it's surface with sulfur and sulfur dioxide that give's it the orange color that we see.The valcanic activity on IO is caused by the strong gravitational pull of JUPITER squeezing IO causing the release of heat.GANYMEDE the largest of JUPITER'S moon's,is slightly larger then Mercury,and has an unusual bright surface of about 90% frozen water,(dirty ice),and strange grooves and ridges that indicate movement.
THE RING'S of JUPITER
The Ring's of the larger planet's where made from small partical's of dust, asteroids, comet's or perhaps moon's that where cought in the strong gravitational and tidal forces of the planet and crushed or torn apart to make the ring system's
RING'S and MOON'S of SATURN
SATURN most certainly has the apearance of a long play record.with it's thousand's of ring's circling the jovian giant.Through a telescope,there appear's to be 3 part's to the ring system.The outside ring is the A ring,the brighter B ring is the center.Between A and B is the CASSINIS division,the gap which seperates them.And the closest to the planet is the C ring(or crepe ring).The ring's of saturn could be left over materal from the birth of the planet,or moon's and comet's that collided forming the ring system.
Of the 18 moon's of Saturn,Titan is the second largest moon in the solar system,the only known moon to have an atmosphere mostly nitrogen (the main gas of Earth)and some methane.Because of the distance from the sun,Titan is so cold that the methane is liquid instead of gas.The thick cloud's that give Titan the orange color that we see,prevent us from seeing the surface which might have mathane lake's and possible methane rain.In the year 2004,the space probe Cassini will land on Titan and explore it's surface.Titan is 3200 miles in diameter,orbit's Saturn in 16 Earth day's and is 760,000 miles from Saturn.Most of the moon's of Saturn ,are ice and rock.Among those is Dione.1120 km.(700 miles)wide.Has surface area's that might be frost.Like most of the other moon's of Saturn,Dione is heavily cratered.Another moon of Saturn is Lapetus,1440 km.(890 miles)diameter,Like the other moon's of Saturn,Lapetus is heavly cratered.However one side of it's icy surface is bright and shiny,while the other side is heavily cratered and dark,coated with dust or other material.
THE MOON'S AND RING'S OF URANUS
The ring's of Uranus were discovered in 1977 when the planet moved between Earth and a star.The star's light blinked as it crossed the ring's.Uranus has 15 moon's'and possibly smaller yet undiscovered moon's.Five of it's main moon's can be seen from Earth.TITANIA,diameter of 1580 Km.(980 miles).ARIEL,diameter 1160 Km.(720 miles).UMBRIEL,diameter 1170 Km.(715 miles).OBERON,1520 Km.(940 miles).Ice and rock world's with crater's and surface fracture's.MIRANDA,another moon of Uranus.Has very unusual feature's,heavily cratered,ridge's and grooves that make unusual shapes and marking's.MIRANDA'S diameter is 470 Km.(290 miles).
THE MOON'S AND RING'S OF NEPTUNE

In 1989 after a 12 year journey through our solor system.Voyager 2,Discovered 6 new moon's orbiting Neptune,making the total of 8 moon's.Neptune's largest moon TRITON,diameter 1680 miles,covered with ice that contian's frozen methane and nitrogen.TRITON is the coldest place in the solor system,with temperture of -236*C {-393*F).TRITON has a thin atmosphere that was formed by the evaporation of ice,and Valcanoe's that spray liquid nitrogen, making streak's and dark spot's on it's surface
PLUTO'S MOON,CHARON
Charon is about half the size of Pluto,orbiting the planet in about 6 1/2 Earth day's,and composed of dirty ice and rock the same as Pluto.
