Hard to Find A Job in the First Month of 2009

Finding a job in the first month of 2009 is hard. I went out on my days off finding places that are hiring and no luck finding anybody that are hiring. I even check out the career center at Diablo Valley College to see if there is any posting of jobs hiring in the area but nothing that would fit what I want to work for. I’m a bit jealous because two people that use to work with me found jobs in December. One person got a job working for the Sheriff Department in Martinez and another person found a job at Brennan & Wampler Financial Service in Walnut Creek. I presume they got their jobs by knowing someone that referred them to there. I want to find a new job because mine is starting to fall apart. In one month they already lost four people in January. All four of them got fired due to poor performance. Management had no choice but to let them go. With the firing of four people the store is affected because now they’re short staff of people working and it is making people stop their membership due to waiting in long lines when it is rush hour when there are a lot of people shopping which is the weekend. I have been with the company since September of 2006. My previous job I was there from March 2001 until October 2006. I left that job because it was a falling empire. I got use to the changes as months past by but the company was losing what it had when I first started. There were people who loving shopping at that place but now they’re angry because the service there is poor. We’re currently on a hiring freeze in which we’re not hiring for a few months until the company has the money and the hours to give to their associate. Most of the part-time associates are getting their hours cut which is not good. I feel that the company should balance how they schedule people. Figure out when they need to have more associate on certain hours when it gets busy. I don’t believe the management pay attention on how they schedule associates when they should be working. Also the management has been horrible because they neglect their associates when we need their help with members that need to talk to a manager. I feel like the managers don’t care about anyone anymore. It like they don’t want to deal with angry members in the store. That is my main reason that I want to leave this job and move onto another one. Another is that I am fully stressed out from the holiday. There was one week in which I only had one day off. It did not pay it off by working overtime because I did not get pay much on working. The tax on my paycheck took almost $200 which is ridiculous. Hopefully with President Barack Obama in office the economy will get better. I hate seeing businesses going out due to the money issue that the United States is dealing with. Let just hope I find a job before the Spring Semester at Diablo Valley College is over.
