Mathematics and  Electronic Calculators

By Alexander V. Bulatov (Moscow, Russia)

These pages will be devoted  to mathematical entertainment  mostly with USSR-made programmable calculators.  Also, here you can find several  application  programs  and games. Some programs are very well known  (see Links  section for similar ones  for TI  and  HP calculators),  while the others are quite exotic.  Many interesting applications of  a programmable calculator were found  by  readers  of  soviet  popular scientific journals such as "Nauka i Zhizn" ("Science and Life")  or  "Technika-molodezhi" ("Technology for the Youth"). I cannot  even  imagine  what  part  of  them  was  not  published  due  to the limited  printing possibilities.  Also,  there can  be a  number of  such  journal  published  "far away from Moscow".  Now I do not know much about them.  I  just  found a  journal  "Pionerija"  published in Kiev, Ukraine.

On  this site there  is  a  list  of  soviet  printed  sources  about programmable calculators.  If  your  paper  or  book is  not  listed  here,  you can let me revive it by sending me its output data by e-mail  bulatov@ipu.rssi.ru . Otherwise,  just  leave  a  message in  the Guestbook .

I am deeply grateful to Alexei Zhuravlev (Kiev, Ukraine) for his help with translation to Ukrainian language.  I am grateful to Andrew Davie (Australia) for his interest in my humble efforts.

The data below is organized into several sections ordered alphabetically.

Important news!!!  Eugene Troitskii (Moscow) composed a program for IBM PC that emulates several russian calculators. All programmable calculators are available. To obtain a copy of the program just write him a letter. Also, he promised to update it regularly on his site
