Reconstruction of Belgrade and Serbia...
(June 17 - February 17, 2000)
All our tears are parched, not love for the kind people. Hope it would be interesting to see what we have done in the reconstruction of our destroyed country.
New bridge over the Danube
After commencement of the wide Reconstruction works, 164 sites have been opened: 54 road structures (44 bridges), 18 railway structures (one bridge), 92 buildings (apartments and other public buildings). Some of the enterprises from the aspect of civil engineering, geotechnics, environmental and other contributions may have be seen here.

Let the Waters be Clear...

INTRODUCTION
At present, protection and preservation of groundwater quality represent an  outstanding environmental, socio-economic, social welfare and political task, not only from the water supply aspect, but also for the purpose of preventing further environmental deterioration. Previous experiences related to groundwater pollution show that it occurs mainly due to human negligence and incidents, disposal and spillage of harmful and toxic substances in transport corridors, release of untreated waste waters into surface water streams (industry) or due to uncontrolled use of protective chemicals in agricultural areas (agro-complex).

Groundwater protection becomes a matter of current interest only when a polluting incident occurs. Recently, different approaches to defining preventive measures have been developed in the domain of hydrogeological investigations. They mainly serve to evidence compliance with the legal regulations, while quality protection is undertaken only when a polluted area or endangered groundwater bodies have to be treated (e.,g. accidental contamination of: the groundwater in the Pozega railway station area, of the Belgrade water source from the direction of the Makis marshalling yard, of the "Medijana" water springs from the direction of the "Electronic industry" in the town of Nis, and especially the enormous environment devastation in the period of tragically NATO aggression for 11 weeks in the 1999’s spring).

It is known that expenses for preventive measures are 10 to 20 times lower than funds for investigations and treatment of polluted groundwater. Therefore, the first step in a rational approach to this problem should be to create an active groundwater quality monitoring system in the wide zones of all the existing and potential water springs, in the zones of big industrial facilities, spoil areas, petrol stations, storehouses for noxious and dangerous substances, and especially in prospective hydrogeological zones crossing or touching transport communications (roads, railway, gas, oil pipelines, etc).

This theme represents the most important activity of my team and of the Department of hydrogeology by the “Jaroslav Cerni” Institute, Belgrade where many of the experiences also references have been reached last years. So, take a look this presentation and do not hesitate to call if you have any inquiry or just to make a contact. You're welcome !!!

TO THE IMPULSE OF LIFE IN SERBIA
Our kids really deserve to have a happy childhood. Regrettably,  they are still victims not only of the 1999's aggression, but also of all misunderstandings of the people from the previous and present regimes... Save their luck. And let them grow in piece and happiness.

INVITATION
Welcome to the open group of hydrogeologic scientists, the people who really want to do something for the future accretion of ours, especially to save just a few oases with still clear drinking waters in Serbia & Montenegro. We know quite good that this is not only our job but also our duty. Our experiences are very rich, especially in the basic and detail groundwater studies, the investigations in the geothermal energy, environmental protection, water supply, where many of our ideas  can be expended well. So, join us wherever you are, send us some words if you want to participate in our new projects or just have any thoughts on partnerships...
