Hi, welcome to my garage. First, let me tell you, I don't know much about mechanics or performance in terms of automobiles. I'm not a monkey wrench (a mechanic for those who may not know) nor am I a major car enthusiast. In the summer of 1995, I decided to get rid of my 1984 Toyota 4X4 because it was falling apart big time. So, I was looking around for something like a 1986 - 1988 Honda Prelude. I've always loved the looks of a Honda Prelude, that is, until it came out with a new design in 1992 which kind of turned me off on Preludes. My brother, who is a mechanic and a private car business owner, showed me several of his cars which he had up for grabs and that I'd have first crack at them if I wanted. He had a 1986 Prelude that he had just bought. I was looking at buying that Prelude at first sight. It needed a little bodywork and mechanical work. Well, as the saying goes, never judge a book by its cover. As he inspected it closer, he realized there were more mechanical faults with it than he anticipated.
So anyways, since I was sold on Preludes, that's what I wanted. Well, so I thought. He had a 1990 Grand Prix SE coupe (pictured below.) So, I took it for a spin and if someone asked me after the test drive about a Prelude, I'd have burst out laughing. I soon afterwards bought the G.P. Sure it was more powerful, more options and looks. And boy, in January of '96 was I ever thankful that I did buy that car.
In January of '96, we had a major blizzard and the city of Winterpeg (that's what the citizens of Winnipeg call it in winter.) I was on my way to school and was going down a 2 way street. A huge city truck was clearing snow and was heading southbound on Sherburn street. Well, this truck starts sliding out of control and hits me dead on. Boy, was that a jolt. The scraper or grader or whatever the &*%$ you call it, hit me straight on. The blade was perfectly even with the front end of my car. The driver of the truck told me afterwards that when he lost control, he tried to get the blade even with the front end so it wouldn't carve up part of my car. So it was $2,000 Cdn in damages to the car. So it was covered by insurance and I didn't have to pay a dime.
So my point of that story is, that if I had bought the Prelude, I wouldn't be here to write it, SHERLOCK!!!!!!! Duhhhhh!!!!!!! Okay, well, that was over-emphasied. Sorry, a brief eclipse of hostility.
And as for future car purchases, I'd like to get either a '97 or '98 Grand Prix GT or GTP coupe. Grand Prix for life for me baby. Anyways, that's all I have to say so either go back to the main page of my website or get the hell out.
