Career Completion

LCDR Michael E. Overs, U. S. Naval Aviator, has completed over twenty years of active service.  Mike retired from the Navy in the Spring of 2002 and the event was marked at a luncheon at Naval Air Station, Patuxent River Maryland.  Family and many friends were in attendance.

Right:  Family members received awards for enduring the life of a Navy pilot's family, especially the several six month periods of separation.

 

Mike is a decorated veteran of "Desert Storm" earning the AIR MEDAL and several NAVY COMMENDATION MEDALS. Mike made several other carrier deployments to the Persian Gulf, Mediteranian Sea, and North Atlantic Ocean. After his last deployment to the Mediteranian aboard the USS EISENHOWER, Mike attended the Naval Postgraduate School at Monterey, CA, earning a Master of Aeronautical Engineering degree. Mike was then assigned to a related position in air weapons development at Patuxent River Naval Air Development Center In 2008, Mike was promoted to Director of Logistics, Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance.

Mike had flown into Latrobe, PA from Cecil Field, Jacksonville, FL, for the annual Westmoreland County Airshow.

He is serving his second career with the Navy in a civilian capacity as NAVAIR Director of Logistics for Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance with office at Naval Air Development Center, Patuxent River, Maryland.  The family's home is in Leonardtown, Maryland.
