13/12/99: Today Air Nostrum operated the first scheduled flights to Madrid using Canadair Regional Jet and Fokker 50. It seems that for the next summer it will also operate flights to Palma and Ibiza. Some rumours say a British airline is interested to operate a flight between Girona and London.
20/9/99: It seems that Air Nostrum will begin 2 daily flights with Madrid in mid november using Fokker 50 and Canadair Regional Jet.
14/9/99: Boeing B757-204 G-BYAG run off the runway an broke into 3 parts yesterday night while it was trying to land in heavy thunderstorm. Fortunately only a few passengers were injuried.
20/8/99: Today arrived the 2nd B747 of this year: TF-ABQ in full Air Atlanta colours operating an Airtours flight.
25-26-27/5/99: On wendnesday 26th the Champions League Final was played at Barcelona. Many of the Manchester people used Girona Airport and many interesting things were seen during these 3 days. The "big birds" landed at Barcelona like: B747s Air Atlanta (SVA colours), Virgin, Corsair (200/300/SP), Monarch A330 and DC-10, Caledonian L-1011s, white c/s (TF- reg.). Here at Girona we saw the following: 3 TransAer A300s, Sabre B737-800, Air Scandic L-1011 (a nice surprise), Air Toulouse B737-200 (new c/s), Volare A320, Air Liberte DC-10 (old c/s L ), Air Transat L-1011 !!! (new c/s: another very nice surprise, was flying for Star Europe), Iberworld A320 (no titles, no tail logo), Belair B727 & MD-83, 2 Ryanair B737 (no sepecial c/s), L-1011 CS-TEB (all white), A320 TransAer + Andalusair titles, AerLingus A330 (wonderful !!!), and at las we also had a Corsair B747-200, and some more. During the night after the match 37 planes were on the ramp. Officially the parking area is for 25 planes only. Several were on the taxiways. I never saw so many planes at Girona and it will be difficult to see this again.
1/5/99: Sibir IL-86 arrived from Barcelona. It will be parked at Girona all the week.
29/4/99: Air Scandic A300 and Skyservices USA A320 came today flying for Airtours.
6-7/4/99: Barcelona Airport was closed due to fog during the night from 6 to 7 and 19 planes came to Girona. It will be difficult to see again so much planes at the same time in the ramp.
29/3/99: 1st Edelweiss flight with A320-200 (HB-IHX).
31/10/98: The last day of this summer season. From now to April only a few planes will be seen at Girona. L
14/9/98: An Enimex AN-72 passed through Girona during the night of course.
12/9/98: Air Girona has delayed again the begining of its flights. Now the say that will begin before year ends. (J J J J J J )
29/8/98: Sobelair operated the flight with the A300 EI-CJK.
27/8/98: Austrian Airlines operated the flight with the MD-83 in special yellow colours.
14/8/98: Air 2000 operated a Leisure Int'l flight with an all white + titles Airbus A321.
26/7/98: Britannia operated 2 flights with L-1011 TF-ABD in full Air Atlanta Icelandic colours.
24/7/98: Airtours flight 197 from MAN came with the DC-10 in full Airtours colours.
3/7/98: At 21:20 landed the first B737-800 at Girona. It was the first for Transavia registered PH-HZA.
1/7/98: Finally Air Girona it seems that will begin operations in september. (?!!!)
26/6/98: The 2nd B747 of the year landed at 22:30. It was a -300 series of Corsair flying for Britannia.
