Hi, I guest I'm doing fine, just that the city is giving me a hard way to go now. My injuries has now develope other complications just like the doctors at shock trama said it would. the pain I have is just devastating and I try to cope with the medicatio I'm taking. The city law department say that my injury does not come from my line-of-duty accident, can you believe that? The TV stations should show that fire again. Hope Bill and you'll d ing fine and all the rest of the guys. Feel free to call me 410-325-9756. anytime doing the day. The story of the fire is nice but my injuries are much more complicated than what you have listed. Call me sometimes and I love to discuss them with you Bye now, and may God continue to bless you Barry L. Blackmon

As a new firefighter with the volunteer dept. next to out house in rural Raleigh, I was happy to view your site. I'm currently at Wake-New Hope Station 2 and I am currently taking our Haxmat class for my state certification. I have printed out your story bout your husband and I plan to show it to the class. My goal in life is to be a paid firefighter someday. I'm 23 and after the military I saw the fire dept as the next best thing for my "youthfull energy". I'm very excited and I wish you and your husband much luck and safety in the future. Thank you for your time. God bless. Chris Greninger WNHVFD #429

Nice site. At the time I was a P.O. @ E-13 A-shift. I was on vacation that night preparing to go to Key West with my wife when we were watching t.v. and a special report came on informing us of the fire. My heart was in my throat because I figured it w s someone from E-13 who was killed because I knew we were an aggressive engine company who was always in the thick of it. I knew Eric fairly well as I taught his class EMT_A at the Fire Academy. We talked a lot on breaks about the department and the pro lems it has. Anyway, thanks for keeping the memory of Eric alive and well. Something the department has failed to do. Take care and God Bless. Mel W. Lieutenant E-2 B/3 BCFD

Enjoyed the very interesting visit to your site! I'm glad this terrible event that killed and injured Americas finest is preserved this way. I also liked the photos, especially the one of old E-24 on the Avalon movie set in Fells Point (that I took) heh he, I had to mention my picture. Ok, hi to everyone else who stumbles across this site. I'd like some feedback on the idea of a site for fire personnel in the BCFD. We could have bulletin boards, an attempt at rumor control, and the BEST idea... having a system for vacation swaps. Put in the days you need off and the days you can give u and get a list of persons to link up with. I would be glad to part of a website for Balto City fire fighters, outside of 734, 964, and the fire department itself. ok, hope to hear from someone on this. Bye for now, Lou Juliana

Thanks....Great job !!!!! I am a 28 yr. veteran of the Baltimore City Fire Dept. and currently the Battalion Chief on "B" Shift in the 7th. Battalion. While I was not working that night, I became heavily involved the next morning as the Chaplain & Color uard Commander. I had NEVER been involved in such a large scale operation as with the funeral of Eric. There is always something positive though in something as tragic as this fire. The B.C.F.D. soon formed the department's Critical Incident Stress M nagement Team (CISM). Until now we had to deal with all of our emotions ourselves...now there is help and we should ALL avail ourselves to the program should the need arise....Thanks Again.

its nice to see a page like this, as a firefighter i do my job because its what I love to do, as is the reason I'm an EMT and a rescue diver. I dont do it for the pat on the back, but it does help to make all the sacrifice worth while. My mother constan ly tells me that to be a firefighter is to be a hero, that may be true, but thats not how it feels. In this line of work there is no such thing as "I" its a team effort, and if the team fails or if you have a bad day someone dies. Thats not acceptable t me or my team, theres already enough things waiting down the road in this proffession that can or will kill you. My fellow firefighters depend on me to do my job perfectly, theres no room for mediocrity, you better know what youre doing, and the same go s for them. My crew are my hero's. Without them I'm nothing, this proffession will turn you from a boy to a man in a single flashover, and from enemies to being as close as two people can be. One motto sums up our proffessional attitude............. YOU GO..........WE GO!!!!!!!!! GOD BLESS AND KEEP YOU ALL.

Ida, this is a wonderful site! It is so nice to know there are people out there who are willing to help others even when their own lives are in danger. This is a great tribute to all those firefighters who were injured or killed in this horrible fire. ill looks cute in his cast.

I enjoyed your web page and the loving tribute to those firefighters who risked and lost their lives protecting the citizens of Baltimore. God bless you and your family. Hope your husband has fully recovered from his injuries. As a young child, I remem er always worrying about my father who was an auxillary firefighter at Engine 22 in Baltimore City. He faithfully served the City of Baltimore for 20 years. Thank God he was never seriously hurt in the line of duty. Firefighters are extrordinary people. Their passion for the job and their compassion for people cannot be surpassed. God Bless you all!

I am the son in-law of John Miller's. The photo of his his helmet is very chilling. I remember being at there house when it happened and I remember how upset the family was as well as how grateful that that more were not killed A fire like that makes everyone realize what kind of men these guys are and how they should be treated as the brave (if not crazy) men that they trully are.

Great page! It is a tremendous tribute to Baltimore Firefighters and the Department. I grew up in Hampden and hung around E21/T9 and E44/T25. Your Clipper Mill fire story brought back many memories, including a multi-alarm fire at the "Rag Factory" at the end of Union Avenue in the '50s(?). Keep up the good work.
