An Evening With!
Ken Hewitt-White Co-Host of Cosmic Highway!

Astronomer Ken Hewitt-White, visited with the Members of The Fraser Valley Astronomers Society, bringing with him a slide show presentation as well as video's, from his television show, "Cosmic Highway". Along with his presentation and dialog, came his unmistakable enthusiasm for the field of Professional Astronomy as well as his deep roots in the world of Amateur Astronomy.
Ken, first of all took our members, to the classrooms of the passionate, pondering, ecstatic, and profound professionals. Touching on their perspectives of the universe and what makes it tick! The Why's? The What's, The Where's and the How Come's! GOOD STUFF!
Ken, then took our members, on a field trip, to his own backyard and from there through our own night sky. His own home photo's of the night sky, were chock full of interesting tid bits, item's that tantalized the imagination and mind. Ken's photo's of the Milky Way, Orion and its Nebula, the Aurora's, Constellations and Star trails, were visually gripping. Ken's knowledge of the night sky as well as the on going programs at NASA. Leave's one thinking, I wish I could live forever to see just how far man will go!
According to Ken, there is some great stuff coming our way in the near future. Planned trips to Jupiter and its Moon's for example. Planned orbit's around the Jovian system, will bring greater view's to the scientist's back home, affording them views from every angle of the moon's around Jupiter. Better than those of the Voyager and Viking space crafts. EUROPA is especially targeted for investigation because of it's watery nature. It is also anticipated that The Cassini project, will bring back spectacular views of Saturn and its Moon's. Particularly the moon IAPETUS, the Ying and the Yang of our solar system. Black as coal on one side, White as snow on the other! Why? That's what Ken is hoping to find out, once the Cassini Satellite achieves orbit around Saturn's system.
In closing, Ken!? Your lecture, was excellent, and awe inspiring! We can't thankyou enough, for treating our member's to an evening, under YOUR night sky! Truly, a great "highlight" in the club's history of events. Personally, I'd love to hear more from you and your exploits, How's next week sound?!!? Ok, Ok, All kidding aside! But you do have an open invitation to visit with us anytime you like, We had a blast! An evening at the telescope with you would probably be spectacular!
