MUDSKIPPER is a band of three seasoned professional musicians who got together three years ago with the express intention of writing some good songs and having fun playing live.

They have since released one independent cassette "SCHTOONK" and now have a CD EP "TUG" (released November 1996) available, as well as performing regularly at hotels and clubs throughout the North Coast, Gold Coast and Brisbane.
They have also supported such major rock acts as Died Pretty, Screamfeeder, Fini Scad, Russell Crowe & 30 Odd Food of Grunt (who incidentally praised the 'Skippers for their strong live performance), The Angels, The Church [to name a few], and have had one song "Back on the Dole" released nationwide as part of a compilation CD from Melbourne based Studio 52.
The band is currently promoting its single "Useless", which showcases its more rockin' side.
MUDSKIPPER music is best described as melodic nineties chunk-pop with a twist, going from moody to crankin' and featuring strong vocal harmonies and melodies.
The band's live show is energetic and aggressive, with guitar histrionics (Get yr Roget's out) and a rhythm section that hangs on the edge. In a further attempt to get people's attention it is prone to the occasional dismemberment and reconstruction of a few classic rock clichés.
Despite this, however, the band feel that its performance intensity has yet to be captured in a studio situation; due perhaps to the need for a good producer.
Mudskipper is currently looking for a studio to get behind the band and to help them develop the sound they hear in their heads.
Even though it was a raw, independent release, songs from the "TUG" EP gained initial high rotation airplay (2/3 plays per day for the first month, then daily thereafter) on Lismore's ZZZ-FM commercial station which covers a demographic from Tweed Heads to Tamworth. Also periodic rotations have been logged from the following stations:

This airplay area coincides with the area in which the band regularly performs and there are also a number of community stations which have indicated airplay of the CD.

The band members:
STUART KENT: Guitarist and lead vocalist. A strong singer with a unique voice and an idiosyncratic guitar style, Stuart has played music since age seven. He writes most of the band's lyrics, is an energetic stage performer who plays from the heart and the nether regions.
EVAN COLEMAN: Bassist and harmony vocalist. Evan studied music at the University in Lismore and is the band's main director. Evan plays the bass like a big guitar, sometimes with chords, sometimes with overdrive; always refusing to settle in one spot for too long. His roving lines and idiot stage patter are a key point of the Mudskipper act. Ev's nether regions are his own business.
WAYNE BIRD: Drummer and harmony vocalist. Wayne's roots are in traditional aggressive rock and he provides solid beats to tie the songs together, following Stu and Ev's every move. He also sings the really high harmonies due to his nether regions being constricted.
During its time together this band has built a solid reputation as a professional, unique and above all entertaining act.
