Comet Hale-Bopp
A beautiful comet. I think we should keep it.

Omega Centauri
The largest globular cluster visible from North America.
30 minute exposure on Fuji G800 through a Celestron C8 telescope at f10 during the 1996 Texas Star Party, Fort Davis, Texas.

Ink Spot Nebula
A dark nebula (interstellar dust) in the constellation Sagittarius.
It's just to the left of the small star cluster near the center of the photograph.
50 minute exposure on Fuji G800, 2032mm F10 Celeston C8 telescope shot from the 1996 Texas Star Party.

My typical equipment setup consists of a Celestron 8 inch SCT, SBIG ST-4 autoguider, off-axis guider, Olympus OM-1 camera, and a 12vdc marine battery.

I often set up at the TAS Atoka observing site.

If there is any chance of any wind at all, I usually erect my portable observatory dome.

Films usually used are Tech Pan, T-Max 400, Fuji HG 400, and Fuji G800 "press". I've found the new Kodak 400 PPF pretty good for emission nebula, but it doesn't repond as well as G800 to blue and green. I've put up some comparison shots of the Ring Nebula, M57. The blues, yellows, and greens are plainly evident on G800, but it's just red on PPF.
