Submarine Insignia Information Quick Links

There are presently 46 countries that own and operate submarines. Singapore is the newest submarine operating country. Syria's submarines were removed from service a few years ago and they probably should be stricken from the list which appears after the links. The size of these submarine forces range from one unit to over one hundred. Many of these submariners wear insignia that signifies their association with submarines. Some insignia are automatically awarded while others must be earned through a year or more of study and hard work. There are a number of people interested in collecting these insignia, so I thought it would be useful to create an online reference that collectors can use to guide them.

The main information on submarine insignia by country is presented in three sections you can scroll through: Albania through Israel, Italy though Turkey, and the United Kingdom through Yugoslavia (Serbia). For those of you who don't want to wait while graphics load (e.g. if you have a slow modem) or are just looking to read the text, I have formatted the data so the images of the insignia must be retrieved as you desire. At the end of each page you can select to go the the other data pages, return here, or go to a page of submarine related links. There are also pages on submarine association insignia, submarine trivia, and related links of interest.
