I have the body of a child, even though i'm actually a grown man/woman. The form asks for my name, my age, my band name, some other weird questions. There is a large glass panel before me, and i can see into the dark room across from me - there is a swivel chair, and a desk that's around the corner of the glass that i can only see the edge of. I think there is a window in the other office, directly across from me. the whole place is eerie. i have the feeling of being watched. then, i can see a room full of people - men in suits and uniforms preparing to perform a test. there is one man, in a white suit, black slacks and dark tie that, i remember thinking, i wouldn't mind if he performed tests on me. he seemed to be in his early thirties to early fourties. a light seems to flare around him, and the camera momentarily zeros in on him. he might be john malkovich. the glass in front of me now shows many different darkened rooms, some now being lit, with chairs and tables. there is the sound and feeling of activity, as if far away. nurses/assistants are escorting a group of children into the facility. they have brightly painted numbers pinned to their clothing, on their backs. i am no longer wholly 'in' the facility; the facility set changed to become a house i used to live in, but it's as if it's 'layered' over the original facility set, because i have a feeling of being in both places at once. i can see several dark rooms, all hooked up to monitors. i am seated at a table (the dining room table), trying to look like one of the group. This table is not hooked up to a camera. If they ever found out I broke into the facility, i'm dead. I go away somewhere for a moment and come back, and a girl is standing in my spot. There is still a table and chair open, but it's one of the monitored ones, and i tell the girl that she'd rather sit 'over there'. I reclaim my chair. I'm trying to act childish, hoping no one notices that i'm not actually a child. The test begins. I can see a man in a suit - the overseer of the project, an armed guard in military regalia, and someone in a lab coat. The man in the suit seems to be 'floating' between rooms, as if he were in another place entirely, but maybe we could hear his voice, or see his face on a monitor. The children are given situations, and studied for their reactions; given intelligence problems; given strange objects and an everyday task to perform. There are people watching my responses - i hear snippets of things like - do you suppose it's genetic? something about a breeding program and blood lines. My mother is there, sitting across the table from me. I think she and the man are talking, and she says 'brendan, let's call *HIM* brendan - is always (getting away with things? trying to get away with things?)' there is some confusion, when my mother 'explains' that there was some mix-up, that they (my parents) never gave authorization for me to take the test, or that some important family event was occuring, and i needed to be pulled from the project. I'm thinking i don't want anyone to find out i'm not supposed to be here. i also remember thinking about problems in the plot, because if i were part of a breeding program, my parents wouldn't be 'out of the loop.' neither would they not know who all of their subjects were, and that i didn't belong. background info on my 'parents' - i'm not sure when this part happened in sequence: [my mother looks and acts nearly the same, except that she's a bit older, and heavier. my 'father' is a completely different person. a young man, in his late twenties/early thirties, dark skin, dark close-cropped hair, compact athletic build. He is a WWII, or maybe Korean War veteran. He wears a white tee-shirt, and maybe army fatigues. He might also be wearing boots and dog tags. He is a handsome man.] My father lost someone? maybe one of my brothers? in the war, and there was a terrible hurricane a few years back that killed my other brother/s. Later: we live someplace in the south, with open wetlands and low, gently rolling hills. It's dark. The government or agency that was conducting the tests contacts my parents. Something startling in the test results makes it imperative that they contact them. My mother plays dumb, says that she doesn't know what he's talking about, that her sons died in the war, or in the hurricane. 'We' are walking along a dark road - my parents, one other person i think, and me. I am no longer a child, but an adult retarded woman/man. I am fat and doughy, wearing some kind of ugly flower-print sack dress, or mumu. I am laughing and bouncing. Then i'm no longer retarded, but robert downey jr., even though i look the same and still act slightly retarded. I am telling the 'other' person about a new chaplin movie i saw (chaplin is still alive). I ape his 'little tramp' routine and everyone laughs. I think - how strange - and some revelation/connection between robert downey jr and charlie chaplin becomes apparent to me (other than the fact that rdj played him in a movie). now i think it's just me and my 'father' walking down the dark road, with tall grass to either side. We hear a loud noise - my 'father' looks to the sky wistfully and says something like - the vatican. they've never sent rome after me before. Flash of a long black car driving up the curving country road, with flowers and crosses in its windows. A helicopter appears, flying over the hill and into view. Voice of government/agency man, may be talking to my mother on the phone: they may just have what may save the world. I'm not sure of this. Basically the gist is: that i'm somehow 'special' and the vatican has some sort of ancient relic that, in conjunction with me, can save the world (from some hugh unpublicized threat). I am looking at books on shelves. I open a book and begin to read: the first page is a copywright/info page - written are the words 'login' and 'password', and there are text boxes and buttons. Then the words - welcome to blahblah network, or blahblah bbs or something like that. While reading the info page, i glean that the books is a copy of something that used to be online, perhaps on a BBS somewhere. The next section deals with the rules: it's something of a dice/choose your own adventure/rpg story game. Back to the story: My parents and i are at the facility. I am a child again (I think), or maybe a teen. There is a panel of dark glass in front of us, with various things displayed behind it. They are things i played with when i was in the first dark room, when i was filling out the form. I think i may have been taking an old version of a test no longer used, maybe an older version of the test the numbered children were taking. The main point of interest is an egg-shell, almost complete except for its bottome third, into which i had carved curved vertical spikes. Apparently everyone thinks this is brilliant. One of the lab people is saying something - 'he wanted (needed?) to make the alien as delicate as possible. but he didn't have the knowledge of the trigonometry blahblah.' The egg-shell has become more intricately carved, to look something like a stylized small-bodied creature with many tentacles. [looking at the drawing i made after i awoke, it also looks something like an embryo, with a large head out of proportion to the rest of it's body] They pull out a jar, in which is a strange lifeform with a body with a cooked egg-like consistency, shaped like the design in the shell. It's apparently alive, but only just. It seems to be sloughing off its skin, or trying to split its body to make another being, and dying in the process. Perhaps it was poorly or incorrectly made; the creature is not complete. My name is baxter now, i think. |

I am walking towards a large window at the end of the hallway and for some reason I am the only one in the hotel. I'm wearing a flowing nightgown and my feet are bear and I can fell the softness of the carpet. When I get to the window, I can see dark black clouds in the sky and the ocean is sending up huge waves on the rocks. It is very indy and all I can do is stand at the window and watch as the storm comes closer. I always wake up just as it starts to hit the hotel. I don't know why, but I have this dream at least on a monthly basis. |

I had this same dream almost every night (lasted a couple of months) about 10 years ago. I kept dreaming that I was trapped in an vacant building and that a man was chasing me with knife. I would end up in a room with no windows and no way out. I knew that I was going to die. I found out why the dream stopped. I am also a Psychology major and happened upon an article about dreams. The article stated that if someone is seriously ill that they will dream that they are going to die or they are separated from their family. I ha a serious illness, but after I went to a doctor and it was diagnosed and I started my medication - the dream stopped! Happened to find your site due to a recommendation by some station members. |

The dream begins at my father's house in the living room. My sister and I are in the room playing with dolls. Everything seems normal. It's a rainy day out ide and the sky starts getting blacker and blacker. A piece of furniture that was always in the center of the room in front of a large window was a huge cedar hope chest. My mother actually had that piece of furniture in that part of the house. Suddenly the lid of the hope chest flys open and a large man is in the box. He is tattooed all over his arm and wearing a white t-shirt, jeans, and motorcycle boots. His head is cleanly shaven and he has a short beard. In his hand he holds a large hunting knif that glistens in the light of the room. My parents are not at home in the dream so when this happens my sister and I run for the front door. When we get there we realize that the door is locked and the man is coming after us. We run upstairs to our be room and out onto a deck with the man not far behind. We reach the edge of the deck and prepare to jump when we see that the man has backtracked and is now on the ground below. At this time the weather clears, but we are still being chased. Even as an dult the feeling of panic in that dream was overwhelming. Everywhere we went was a deadend. There was absolutely no escape ever. The dream always ended with no real conclusion. I would wake up in a cold sweat, my heart still pounding in my chest. | Comments: The really strange part of this dream is that I have married the chasing man. I meet him 7 years after the dream began, but I didn't realize that he was the man from the dream until we had know each other for 10 years. The dream didn't return after that realization. I didn't make the connection until my now husband had all of the tattoos from the dream. My husband is not violent or threatening in anyway and I know what people have said about dreams where you're chased with a large phallic object, but have no idea what to make of this. If anyone has any suggestions please let me in on it. Thanks. |
