Hello I'm Sumeet Gupta (which is very obvious by now) and I'm not very sure why this page exists or what you are doing staring at it. I can't see why it would interest anyone to see my bloated face or know my history or read whatever nonsense I have to say nor is that my prima facie intention here (though I do have my own views on exhibitionism and underlying psychological residues and craving for attention). This page started in 1996 as a bookmarks file and has evolved since to this fine repository of resources on subjects that are of idle and research interest to me as also my own dissertations on the same. Consciousness Studies with a touch of Chaos

It feels awkward using this word, consciousness....doesn't even have a formal definition and for a mathematician, even a half-baked one, it is a legitimate cause for indigestion. This is a wide field with no well defined boundaries which attempts to understand why and how you and I are doing what we are right now. This means it must involve diverse branches of inquiry and it does - Neurobiology, Computer Science (AI), Psycholinguistics, Cognitive Science, Philosophy of Mind, Psychology etc which themselves are only vaguely demarcated and often draw heavily on each other. Most importantly this also means that you and I can happily go farting around on this subject and still maintain a straight and serious countenance and this indeed is one of my chief occupations. This section, however, is devoted mostly to the biological and computational understanding of whatever it is that we label as consciousness, thoughts, learning, memory and emotions but the philosophical implications are inescapable and perhaps instructive.

Neural Networks

A list of sites on classical neural network paradigms and associated subjects such as genetic algorithms, fuzzy logic and artificial life which are no longer of much interest to me in their present form.

Literature

I've had a mania for reading novels or, more pompously, literature for several years now. I've managed to fool too many people for too long now into respecting my monumental knowledge (as a friend put it) of serious books written over the last few centuries that I'm almost on the verge of believing in it myself. This section is a promiscuous collection of words and punctuation which together manage to give the impression that they convey something about fiction and other reading material in general.
