MIKE FARNAN SPANS THE BAY.

Most model aircraft enthusiasts are happy to fly a few laps of the local model field.Australian Champion flyer Mike Farnan had a bigger goal in mind. To set the record for longest flight over water by a model helicopter by spanning Port Phillip Bay in Melbourne, Australia.
Using a fullsize Jetranger from Professional Helicopter Service at Moorabin Airport Mike covered the 65kms in just over 40 minutes. At times the model was reaching 70knots groundspeed!!!
The route took Mike from Eastern Park in Geelong to Elwood, the whole journey being across water.
