Parkview Band Concession Stand

Spring and Summer '2000

Here are some pictures of the Concession Stand that we are building on the visitor's side of the football field.

We had to bring temporary power underground from the old stand.

.

We poured a 14 by 14 foot slab in March of 2000.

There will be two serving windows in the front.

There will be a center beam to support the roof. The studs between the windows will support the beam.

The front roof will have a gable that will extend 18 inches over the serving area. The cantilever support is 2 2x6 boards on the sides and the center beam in the middle.

There are two doors, one on each side towards the back.

Here is the beam. 2 2x10s with a 7/16th plywood board sandwiched between, 16 feet long. Construction adhesive and a series of bolts hold it together. The 2x10s are offset so that the joints between boards are not at the same section. 2 8 foot boards on one side, and a 4 foot then an 8 foot and then another 4 foot board on the other. The 7/16th center boards are 6 foot, 4 foot, and 6 foot. Peter takes a break after the beam is lifted into place.

We were able to reuse some of the sections of the original red stand.

Rich is checking to see if the walls are plumb.

Here we are adding the joists and rafters.

Hank appreciates the lemonade after a long night working on the stand. Thanks Susan!

Now the walls go onto the studs. Don't hit your thumb, Keith.

The decking goes onto the rafters and the rest of the walls go up.

The shingles go on next. Al and Peter try not to slide off.

Next we start with the vinyl siding and the rest of the shingles.

Norm and Jim make sure it all goes on streight.

More vinyl siding. Starting to look good! Left side.

Front.

Right side.

And the back.

Keith, Jim, Al, and Ben put up the counters and

Add some finishing touches.

Now laminate the Formica for the front counters.
