Manned space exploration began when cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin orbited the earth once in 1961. It reached a fervor with the Apollo moon missions. Shuttle astronauts and Soyuz cosmonauts continue crewed
space exploration today. The International Space Station is growing. Possible furture targets of exploration are Mars; and then who knows?
