Star Fleet Command

Star Fleet was founded in 2161 as the operations arm of the United Federation of Planets. As such it carries out exploration, transportation, protection, and other duties as directed by the Federation Council.

Star Fleet is guided by a set of general orders. General Order 1 is the famous, and sometimes controversial, non-interference order known as The Prime Directive.
