2008 Dinner Dance will be held on Saturday 14th March 2009(!) at Stower Grange Hotel.

10 March 2009 The site now updated with Norfolk League fixtures. Please visit either the link above or below to view them!

11 February 2009 With apologies for the lack of updates over the last four months, I thought I best get something on here before the site gets wiped for lack of new information! The Sunday fixtures for 2009 have been released and there is a link higher up the page for those who wish to view. Its an interesting fixture list, including the annual pilgramage to Barney! Most intriguing opponents are Quebec (who I am reliably informed do not play in Canada) as Drayton have never met them in any form of the game. Hopefully the Saturday fixtures will be released soon - I will update the site when we have them. There are some pictures of the 'A' team celebrating their title triumph last season on the Facebook group page, and I will possibly add a picture or two to this site eventually! The next net session at Hellesdon High School is on Weds 18th February at 18.00 - hope to see you there!

14 October 2008 Hopefully you should now be able to see all of the main pages of the website updated, along with the player profiles and the 2008 averages added. The 'A' team have picked up their Division Seven winners trophies from the Norfolk League Presentation Dinner - congratulations to them, and also to Daz Flatt who was named as Division Seven Bowler of the Year.

The Dinner Dance is fast approaching (a month today as I write this) - demand for places is sure to be high so be sure to respond to the President ASAP.

Nets are already booked for 2009 - dates as follows (all 18:00 - 20;00): Wed 21 January; Wed 18 February; Wed 4 March; Mon 23 March; Mon 30 March; Mon 6 April; Mon 13 April; Mon 20 April; Mon 27 April.

Don't forget to check out the Play Cricket website if you have not done so already (you will find a link elsewhere on this page).

13 August No match reports this week. The first teams game with Hardingham was abandoned after just 15 balls were bowled, with Drayton on 17-0, due to the heavy rain which started to fall just prior to 2pm. The 'A' team's game with Felthorpe was abandoned without a ball being bowled. Sunday saw the President's Day game - and the game was won by the President's side (fix?!). There were several excellent individual performances - with the bat from Gary Smith, Chris Coupland (despite having to retire hurt - see Chris's profile page to see why), Ryan Pointer (who hit burly paceman Jason Trett for a huge six - see Ryan's profile page also!), James Reeve, Tim Woods and Jason Trett. With the ball impressive performances from Keith Robertson, Tim Woods(!), Daz Flatt, James Kay, Ryan Pointer, Phil Soanes and Richard Taylor. I have uploaded over 50 photographs taken on Sunday to the Facebook group - if you would like a link to the pictures without having to sign up to Facebook, please let me know. And now a message from the President:

Dear All, unfortunately I didn’t get the opportunity to extend my thanks to you all (I was too busy burning the burgers). I personally had a great day and what made it even better was the support that you all gave. Hope you all also enjoyed the day.

Thanks to Pat, Janice, Ruth, Natalie and Erica for preparing the food, they were all a great help. Also thanks to DCC’s in house photographer, Alan "David Bailey" Wright for his snapshots and umpiring session.

Finally thanks to my support cook’s, Graham "who wants a burnt sausage" (Alias Antony Worrell-Thompson), Robbo "my sausage is the biggest" (Alias Keith Floyd) and of course myself Gordon Ramsay. "where’s the bloody onion’s"!

Thanks for all your batting, bowling, fielding, barracking and sledging (on and off the field ) making it such a brilliant day. As someone pointed out to me we cannot remember a better turn out at Drayton such as we had on Sunday.

    Tony

The Play Cricket site, now contains scorecards of ALL Drayton games for which I have scorecards dating back to 1953 in the "Results" section (enter a date or date span or alternatively on the right hand side of the home screen click on the name under "Most Runs In All Seasons" to access a list of all players to have played for the club - from here you will be able to navigate through individual players statistics as well as scorecards. If anyone would like any pointers please let me know and I will try to assist. I believe there are somewhere in the region of 2300 games included (if anyone would like to count them all please let me know!!!). Please take a look and remind yourself of past glories as you wish!

Drayton Cricket Club also has a Facebook "group". For those of you who are on Facebook who haven't joined the group, please feel free to, and that also extends to any non Drayton players/supporters who wish to join!

Drayton 'A' received their runners up trophies at the Norfolk Cricket League Presentation Evening last night, and they also retained the "Spirit of Cricket" Award for their entire Norfolk League. Below are the pictures of the happy team!
