Drayton v Aldborough 15th July 2006

Aldborough 203-5 (T. Farrow 55, K. Bacon 62*) Drayton 207-3 (G. Smith 54, C. Sutton 70*) Following defeat at Walcis Park against Great Witchingham 'A', Drayton's first team moved back into the top half of the table with a good all round team performance against Aldborough. On another hot day, Gary Foreman chose to bowl first after winning the toss. Whilst wickets were hard to come by during Aldborough's innings the run rate never got out of control. Aldborough's main contributors with the bat were Tom Farrow (55) and Kevin Bacon (62 not out) - for Drayton, Gary Foreman took 3-35, whilst Phil Soanes took 2-42

In reply, Drayton promoted Gary Smith to open the batting as he had to leave early to attend a rock concert, and it work a treat as he smashed 54 in just 11 overs, including four 4's and four 6's. Three of the sixes were struck in consecutive balls in the 4th over of the innings - the 3rd going directly through a parked car's rear windscreen! After that, Drayton never had a problem keeping up with the required run rate, and the father and son combination of Chris and Mike Sutton saw them home adding 94 for the 4th wicket - Chris making 70 and Mike 31.
