Bungay v Drayton 10th June 2006

Bungay 145-7 Drayton 148-5 (J. Sutton 59) A baking hot day and the distraction of England's World Cup game against Paraguay could not take away from another Drayton victory on Saturday. Bungay began aggressively with S. Smith punishing anything loose as the home side carved their way to 30-0 in the sixth over. Andy Hawes then took an excellent boundary line catch off Gary Smith to dismiss the Bungay opener, and thereafter the run rate was slowed by some tight Drayton bowling and fielding. Despite only fielding three specialist bowlers, Drayton never allowed Bungay to get back on top - Smith hit four of the 12 boundaries in the innings in his six overs at the crease - both Sutton brothers bowled tightly, with John producing the occasional vicious delivery. Ramm with 36 and Lewis with 20 were Bungay's main contributors, with John Sutton's 2-36 being the pick of the Drayton bowling.

In reply, John Sutton (59) and Andy Hawes (24) added 81 runs for the second wicket before they were dismissed in consecutive balls. When Paul Eggett followed shortly after, it appeared Drayton were wobbling. However, Chris Sutton (31 not out) moved Drayton to victory with nearly 4 overs to spare - his innings including some mighty powerful drives.
