New Buckenham v Drayton 'A' 12th July 2008

Drayton 'A' 160-8 New Buckenham 85 On Saturday 12 July 2008 Drayton A travelled to New Buckenham’s picturesque but damp ground, after losing the toss Drayton were first to bat on a slow damp wicket. Runs were extremely hard to come by, Braithwaite’s first 6 overs going for just one run. Drayton lost their first wicket of the innings when the score was just 11. Drayton added a further 40 runs in the next 19 overs. A partnership of 71 between Daz Flatt and Nigel Massingham moved the score to 122 before eventually both departing in the 41st over. Enter 'Andre Nel' (Jason Trett) who then proceeded to smash two massive sixes leaving Drayton with a reasonable score of 160 for 8.

After a lovely outing to the local pub for teas it was back to the ground to defend the total. With the first wicket gone in the 3rd over we were off to a good start. Then we found ourselves in the undesirable position of New Buckenham being 63 for 1. An outstanding catch from Trett off Massingham’s bowling to remove the stubborn D Rust proved to be the turning point because the next 8 wickets fell for just 22 runs. Drayton left the ground happy with their result, and also glad to have played against such a sporting side. Elle Foster (Roving Reporter!)

For the record, this win has moved the 'A' team top of Norfolk League Division Seven, with seven games of the season remaining.
