Drayton 'A' v Rocklands 'A' 16th June 2007

Drayton 'A' 155-4 Rocklands 'A' 129-9 On a Saturday when only a handful of matches were completed in the Norfolk League, Drayton 'A' recorded a second consecutive win, despite spilling a few chances, which cost them a bowling point.

On a softish and low wicket, Drayton made steady progress to 155-4, with runs shared fairly evenly between Nigel Massingham (39), Tony Gregory (27), Darren Flatt (35, with two enormous sixes) and Graham Crowe (22 not out, also with a well-struck six). D Ellis bowled with good control for Rocklands (10-3-24-2).

When Rocklands batted, they found the extra pace of Jamie Scarff (11-1-28-3) and Flatt (8-0-24-4 - all bowled) challenging. Captain Flatt set the wickets tumbling with a hard, flat throw, which found the Rocklands opener dithering out of his ground.

The fielding did not reach last week's level: Richard Taylor and Scarff both missed chances, and Rocklands canny later batsmen settled for third batting point, but Drayton's win was welcome nonetheless.
