Sandringham v Drayton 6th May 2007

Drayton 88 Sandringham 89-0 In the 2006 Challenge Cup, Drayton were bowled out for 89 by Gressenhall. This time round they were bowled out for one less - having at one stage looking unlikely to reach even half that total. A fine spell of seam bowling by the young Sandringham opening bowler Richmond reduced Drayton to 7-5, as he removed four of Drayton's most experienced batsman. A solid innings from Saul Simpson and some gutsy defence from Dylan Finch restored some order to the Drayton score, but the most credit should be reserved for captain Warren Kedge (21) who in conjunction with the stubborn Matt Bourne (20 not out) moved Drayton's total back to some sort of respectability. When Sandringham batted, despite the best efforts of Jason Trett and Darren Flatt, captain B. Melton punished anything loose to send his side to an easy victory, and send Drayton back on their long trip home. Drayton now move to the Broke Cup, for which they have earnt a passage through to the second round having received a bye in the first round.
