My experience in User-Interface and Interaction design range from web-applications, intranet applications, desktop applications, PDA and mobile applications. I have been involved in rapid prototyping, interface flows, requirements capture, information architecture, usability testing, accessibility, & visual design of applications and websites. I have also written user-manuals and created flash help and simulations, to improve the usability of the products.
User-interface design, in my opinion, is about presenting the user the most usable way to perform a task. This can happen only when the UI designer takes a user-centered design approach and does not design from a developers point.
A sucessful interface is one which is easily learnable, provides all types of users, beginners, intermediate and expert users, the tools that reflect their mental model. For example wizards can be very helpful for beginners, but they can be very frustrating for intermediate and expert users if the UI does not provide alternate ways to perform the task.
My work in Honeywell for web applications has won me many awards. I was also involved in defining processes for the UCD process across all business units in Honeywell. Due to company policies, I cannot display most of my work here. But I have attached a few screenshots of some UI's that I have done in my individual capacity.
