SYNC ROTARY SETUP

After installing the new 8 electrode G10 disk on my SRSG I was lucky and
hit the 'sweet spot' on the first go. The difference in performance and sound
is incredible. I decided to have a closer look at what was going on. At the same
time I converted my srsg speed control variac to a phase control system to allow
the setting of gap-break point vs incoming wave form on-the-fly.

Above and below show the gap with the test apparatus attached. normally I
don't have the 'flat-head' bolts sticking out of the edge of the G10 disk as
the electrodes are held in with grub screws. However, as Thoriated Tungsten
has no magnetic signature, I required a means of triggering my sensor. The sensor
is the speed sensor from a heavy vehicle and should be easily available from any
truck/tractor wrecking yard - look for it at the point where the tailshaft meets the
gearbox.

Above and below show the system set for minimum phase shift before the srsg falls
out of sync.

Above and below show the system set for the mid point phase shift.

Above and below show the system set for maximum phase shift, compare the cro display
below to the one for the minimum setting above to determine the approximate range of
shift possible.
