I have been in many different places and industries, working as an engineer on building structural design, vibration control research, nuclear reactor structures, piezoelectric plate for quartz crystal resonator design, software development, and webmaster and project manager in an Internet security company. It is always exciting to be able to go to a new place and start everything from the beginning. There are always plenty of books to read, many questions to make, and also many mistakes to make. However, you will always be surprised on how you have tried and contributed in one way or another. Besides, to know the people around you and to support and be supported are also very interesting and challenging. Since the late cooling down of Internet economy in Silicon Valley, there will be efforts not rewarded, technology abandoned, and so on. Just look at the company I worked, NetFront, which have attracted many great minds and capable people, but our products and services have failed to be accepted by the market. However, the hard-learnt lesson will not be forgotten soon because I did learn a great deal from how to work together with a group to launch a product, to coordinate the system operations, to work with other Internet startups, to see the employees and your buddies leaving, and to witness the unpleasant end. But, there are many experiences you can only read, not to be in it. In this sense, it is really a once in your lifetime experience. Silicon Valley will have a new chapter, and how should I move on in my career? As before, I am in a constant search mission to cope with the changing landscape in computer, electronic, and Internet industries.
