    3rd Annual AWIS-CAC Innovator Award Dinner May 19th 2009. Join us in honoring Dr. Tijana Rajh as the 2009 AWIS Innovator Award winner. Dinner will be held at Scoozi (410 W. Huron Street, Chicago). Dr. Rajh is a chemist at Argonne National Laboraties. She will give a brief talk at the dinner about her career and experiences as a female scientist.     Scientists needed for Bioblitz at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore May 15th and 16th 2009
    The Indiana Dunes Bioblitz, presented and sponsored by the National Park Service and National Geographic, is a 24-hour inventory of species in Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore and is being held on May 15 and 16, 2009. Teams of scientists and naturalists, along with public volunteers, will comb the park's 15 miles of shoreline and more than 15,000 acres of dunes,oak savannas, marshes, bogs, prairies, rivers, and forests to observe and record as many species as possible.
    Goals of the Bioblitz are to add to species lists for as many taxonomic groups as possible, to increase awareness about biodiversity in an urban environment, and to pair the public with professional scientists and other experts in the field. A biodiversity and sustainability festival will be held from 11:30a.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 15 and from 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16th at the West Beach unit of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.
