MORE IMAGING TIPS

Trouble focusing? Make a Hartmann mask. Cover the front of the scope with a piece of cardboard that has four equally spaced holes near the edge. The holes should be about 1/6 the diameter of your primary. When out of focus, you will see four images of a target star, that will merge into one at focus. Still having problems? My focuser was too coarse so I borrowed some gears from a toy and made a 10 to 1 reducer on the focuser. Now I can easily move the focuser in and out in very, very small increments.
