A New Place for Team Meetings and Post Game Parties. |
There is a great place to meet and it's free!CYBERTOWN My 12 year old daughter called for me from my home office. "Daddy, come here and look at this. Can I load it on your PC?" "NO", I replied, having the memory of just fixing the last mess some virus infected software had done to my hard drive. "Not until I check it out with my virus software. What is it anyway?"
"A new place were you can have chat rooms in 3D." Great I thought. Now I'll never get my PC back for important stuff. Like playing Stars and Supernova.
So that night, as promised, I logged into the web site that she had written down. I saw a visitor's entry point and any went in. Finding the help links and downloading them, I was able to read about Cybertown and what I found was amazing. This is a site that allows people to meet in 3D chat places. I say "Places" because Cybertown is set up just like that. A town. More like a city. The main town has a village place, a mall, a new comer center, clubs, a flea mark and much more. The Software from Blaxxun (there is a link in Cybertown to download it free) allows you to move around this world in 3D. Looking at fellow members (or at least their Avatars) in the eye while you both have a conversion. Better still, a voice synasizer allows you to hear the text being displayed. And if you have a microphone attached to your PC, there is additional software that you can download that will allow you to be hands free.
You might be thinking, "Oh Great! Another crowded public chat room with kids all over it, doing annoying things" and you would be partially right, if you stay in the public areas. But here is the best part. You can build your own home and clubs, where you can invite visitors for meetings and parties. Cybertown is the main meeting area with it's shops, malls and clubs (some clubs can require memberships). Outside of the main area are places call COLONIES. There are about 7 colonies right now and the Mayor of Cybertown (Yes a user is elected mayor every so often) and the council (made up of leaders - more on them in a minute) decide if and when a colony should be created. Users are the people who are responsible for maintaining Cybertown and keeping it running. If you decide to go the political path or working directly for Cybertown, you can apply to be a leader or deputy at different levels and earn CCs (Cyber Cash). You could work for the security group as a cybercop or as a helper at a club. Each colony is governed by a Colony Leader (CL) and his/her deputies(CDs - Up to 8). The colony as the top of an area is broken down into Neighborhoods, with it's leader (NLs) and deputies(NDs). up to 20 or so "Hoods". Each neighborhood is divided into blocks, again with leaders (BLs) and deputies (BDs). Each block has space for up to 40 - 60 homes. This is where you can put you VR (virtual reality) home. Complete with furniture and robot pet or assistant (which you can program to respond to some questions from visitors).
Once I figured how to get around and found a temporary location for my VR house, I set up the Yolun Embassy as my house. I then set out to find a Colony/Neighborhood/Block that had other STARS players. Not having found one, I've settledown on a block called The Stars. It was a good a place as any to start a Stars Player Community So stop by the Yolun Embassy for a visit and let me know if your interested in creating a home on the Stars block.
