Who is this Neal guy anyway?

So you want to know who I am. Well, to quote a favorite phrase "He's just this guy...you know". There is not much to tell. You may think that I am an art student trying to get into the cartooning profession, or some professional political cartoonist trying to expand his empire by building his own Web-site. Nothing could be further from the truth. My artistic skills and training are much more impressive than that. It all goes back to math class. Years and years of practice scribbling on the margins of my homework. Mostly ships and airplanes (you see I had this foolish idea of joining the Merchant Marine and sailing around the world) so I kept doodling until one day I actually graduated High School. What the heck, I said to myself, went to a Marine Engineering school and traveled around the world for a year. Once out of school, I found out that there were few shipping jobs. Therefore I did the next best thing and got a job working on a local ferry boat as an engineer.

Well the days have slowly plodded into years (13 to be exact). As I have worked there I have discovered that there are some real characters in this world. I started drawing cartoons to make the days go by quicker. Soon, people at work were telling me that I had some sort of talent for this. Even if that were so,I thought, I certainly could not make a living doing this. Who would hire an ex-ferryboat engineer to draw cartoons anyway? Not to mention that drawing them would no longer be any fun but just another chore. So... what to do....

Then I got a new computer with internet access. I wondered what my cartoons might look like if I scanned them and put them in a Web-site. But who would really want to see my cartoons. Well I had to do it to find out for myself. So here it is.

I hope that in some way you guys (and gals) find my stuff entertaining. I'm not out to intentionally offend anyone. However, if the shoe fits... Sailing around the world I've seen some really strange things. The strangest is when I returned, I realized that Americans don't really know how good they have it. So, if you think that my poking fun at politicians is somehow un-american you've got it all wrong. It is that these dumb things go on in our country and people are not outraged about it that makes me want to poke fun at them.

This thing is low budget all the way and the site is intended to reflect this. I hope you like what I draw and continue to visit me. Its all free and I promise you that I do not intend to sue anyone. If I didn't want you to have it, it wouldn't be on this site. So, help yourself. I'm sorry that it takes so long to load the images but I didn't want to sacrifice image quality for speed.
